Chris DaSilva Band (CDB) is a NYC reggae-rock band, born in early 2009, although the core of the band was actually formed back in the late winter of 2005. Originally named According to Wendy, the band consisted of Chris DaSilva on vocals and guitar, Steve Holder on bass and backing vocals, and Fred Pisciotta on percussion. In late 2009, Paul Hickey joined in on drums.
CDB is known for its So-Cal reggae-rock style, unique to the east coast, where all its band members are from. Originally raised on blues and rock, Chris adapted the reggae style after playing in a roots-reggae band in 1998. Since that time, he was hooked by the contagious grooves, and soon after formed his own band with a few friends, utilizing that reggae style.
Chris met Steve in 2005 while working at the same stuffy, corporate job, and Steve soon set up a jam session, including longtime friend, Fred. Expecting nothing more than a casual, fun jam, the three immediately clicked, officially forming the band and coming away from the jam session with several written songs. Chris and Steve formed a tight musical bond, with Steve helping arrange the songs that Chris brought to the table. Since then, they have been songwriting partners and continue to grow as musicians.
Over the years, CDB has performed as both an acoustic band and a full band, depending on venues and additional band members, showing strong versatility and the ability to adapt to any situation. Dealing with several circumstances that would break up most other bands, they\'ve continued on strong, improving year after year with new songs and an ever-growing fan base.
After performing mostly as an acoustic based band throughout 2009, the band once again added in full drums with Paul Hickey late in the year. Paul\'s natural reggae feel on the drums added that much needed element, taking the band yet another step forward.
CDB is currently playing gigs throughout New York City and the surrounding area, and is slated to start recording their second CD sometime in early 2010.
