Bat Wings For Lab Rats burst onto the Albuquerque local scene in early 2009 with their infectious blend of punk, metal, hip hop and ska. Featuring members of QTA, Holiday Sail, the Isness, Agency E and Firehydrant, Bat Wings For Lab Rats first came together at The Agency, an all ages performance space in downtown Albuquerque. Within six months the band was a staple of the downtown scene, earning more and more chances to showcase their talent, including a gig opening up for Kottonmouth Kings at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Their music is an intoxicating blend of styles ranging from punk rock to ska to metal, with a healthy helping of hip hop vocals and pop sensibility. Bat Wings For Lab Rats describes their genre as \"punkhopadelic\" and their goal is to avoid being pigeonholed into any one genre of music. \"I\'ve always been a big music fan. I want to make the music I want to hear, one day it\'s Sublime and Dr. Dre, the next day it\'s Slayer and Jay-Z with a dash of David Bowie,\" said vocalist Brandon Atencio (aka \"LOKi\").
Bat Wings For Lab Rats is slated to enter the studio in early spring 2010 to record a full length record with plans to tour in the summer. \"We\'re not going to stop until we\'ve made our mark, whatever that may be. You\'ll know when the time comes.\"
